Myotact is a medical device resulting from 3 years of research work by the Hybrid team within INCIA, the Institute of Cognitive and Integrative Neurosciences of Aquitaine.

In partnership with the CNRS and the University of Bordeaux, we launched this project because we want to restore mobility and improve the rehabilitation of people who have lost the use of their limbs.

Worldwide, 65 million amputees suffer from phantom limb pain, and 60% of upper limb amputees give up using a myoelectric prosthesis because mastering its use is a long and complex process.

Rehabilitation not only affects amputees but also more than 10 million people each year who suffer from limb hemiplegia following a stroke.

The current therapies for rehabilitation can be surgery with risks for the patient, medication with side effects or follow-up in a rehabilitation center with very little possibility of rehabilitation at home.

It is, therefore, to enable simpler, quicker and more effective rehabilitation of amputees and hemiplegic patients that we have developed, thanks to our team of researchers and engineers, the Myotact bracelet, which allows the acquisition of muscle activity coupled with vibrotactile feedback while translating this activity into virtual movements via an application.

Today, there is no device allowing the acquisition of this muscular activity (or EMG) coupled with vibrotactile feedback (called sensory feedback). A patent has been filed to protect our technology with the CNRS and SATT Aquitaine Science Transfert.
